Just hours after a June 18 missile attack the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) carried out against terrorists in Syria, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution praised the excellent move and called on the IRGC to spare no effort to enhance its missile capabilities.
“Your job was splendid. May God accept it from you. This is a an act of worship in (the month of) Ramadan,” Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had said in a meeting with a group of the IRGC commanders in Tehran, a few hours after it fired six high-precision missiles at positions of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor on June 18.
“Keep working on missiles as much as you can. See how sensitive the enemy is to the (Iranian) missiles, so keep in mind how important your work is,” the Leader stressed at the meeting.
Imam Khamenei then assured the IRGC of its great capabilities to make more headways, saying, “The enemy should be slapped in the face.”
Elsewhere in that meeting, the IRGC commanders had given a brief report of the successful missile operation to Ayatollah Khamenei, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, giving an assurance that the missiles had only targeted the positions of terrorists and none one them had hurt any civilians.
The missile raid was made in retaliation for a June 7 terrorist attack in Tehran claimed by the Daesh.
In a statement on June 21, the IRGC said more than 170 Daesh terrorists, including several ringleaders, were killed in the missile strike.
