President Hassan Rouhani condemned presence of the US forces in Syria and said that the new plan of the US for Syria is contrary to the international regulations and is a plot for territorial integrity and security of Syria and the region.
According to a report of the Presidential Office website on Tuesday, President Rouhani in a meeting with Syrian parliament Speaker Hammouda Yusuf Sabbagh extended his congratulations for great victories of Syrian government, military and nation against terrorists and liberating important cities, and added that fight against terrorism has not fully come to end and still needs efforts.
President Rouhani said that the Iranian nation and government have always been with the Syrian nation and government and expressed the hope that the Syrian future would be in the direction of prosperity and tranquility.
He said that continuation of fight against terrorism and confrontation with foreign interferences are so important for the Syrian people, adding that the Syrian refugees should return home as soon as possible and rebuilding process should begin in Syria and Iran is standing by Syrian people and government in this regard.
President Rouhani said that the negotiation process and political moves started from Sochi should be continued until the fulfillment of rights of the Syrian nation and government.
Hammouda Sabbagh appreciated Iranian government and nation supports for Syrian people in the way of fight against terrorism, and called for continuation of supports and assistance by Iran during rebuilding Syria era.
He added that holding joint economic commission meeting in Damascus and upcoming visit of First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri to Syria will help develop relations.
Sabbagh said that Syria has officially asked the US forces to depart from Syria, adding that Syria has never agreed to their presence in Syria.
